Salcedo Weekend Market

Last week, we tried to go into one of the famous weekend markets in the metro and that is in Salcedo Market in Makati City. Its my first time to be here and I find it as if its the expensive side of Banchetto. It has a very spacious place that lets visitors walk around to their hearts content. Also, aside from food, they also merchandise other things like kitchenwares, potted plants, and wooden specialties.
Anyway, we came here for food and alas we found the best. We purchased the Paella Negra and Paella Seafood at P280 each. We also went ahead and purchase the takoyaki balls and Tortang Giniling.

The yummiest of them all - Paella Negra

Seafood Paella

Japanese Takoyaki
The Paella Negra was my favorite of all. It was actually referred to me by one of my workmates as a must try in Salcedo Market and good thing I tried. Altough, it comes with a hefty price, it is still worth it. Its made basically of mixed rice with squid ink, sliced squids and shrimp. The seafood paella then is also a very tasty dish. It is a mixture of rice, seafood, pork and chicken. It is very loaded so its really heavy on the belly, anyway, it was really worth it. I was really full but we went ahead and ate the takoyaki balls and saved the Tortang giniling for lunch afterwards. There are more things/food to try out there and I am pretty sure that we will be back soon.

Something Fishy Restaurant - Eastwood

If you are craving for lots and lots of food but your on a low budget, the best place to go is at Something Fishy in Eastwood Place in Quezon City. For just a minimal fee of $120, you can already eat all you can within the served buffet. This eat-all-you-can meals can be availed in the morning so its the best place for us, working in night shifts, to eat after a hard days work. They serve almost all the usual breakfast meals like tocino, longganisa, sweet ham, hotdog, eggs, etc. They also serve chicken and beef noodle soup. Plus, if you're not yet full enough after all those meals, you can grab a dessert which is my most favorite part. You can have all pancakes, kutsinta, palitaw, etc as much as you want.

I would recommend this restaurant especially for large groups. Have fun!

The Priest Movie Review

Today marks our 5th monthsary and my hubby gave me a gift, a mango chiffon cake which is so yummy. After that, we decided to watch a movie and it is The Priest. The movie is in 3d by the way.

The story lacks some depth but overall is a good movie to watch. The fighting scenes are superb and very keen in details. I loved the scene where Maggie Q (she is very awesome here by the way) took over the familiars. The range of weaponrys used are really good. I'm not sure though if there will be a 2nd movie after this since they have not defeated yet the real threat which is the vampire queen. I think they should create a 2nd movie so they can provide more depth on this story.

After the movie, my hubby treated me as well for a facial and diamond peel. So happy! :)

Tuna Bacon Crepe

I just made a try out of one of my favorite crepes - the Tuna Bacon Crepe. You can usually buy this one on crepe stands but the best one and inexpensive is in Banchetto. Anyway, I tried to make one on my own. So, I made use of hotcake mix, tuna, bacon, lite mayo and pepper.

It really tasted so good! I forgot though to add whole kernel corn and some cabbage. Probably, I'll try this again this weekend. TIP: tuna can be tasteless sometimes especially when combined with bacon so try to stir fry your tuna first and add some seasoning to enhance its flavor. Try it! :)

2011 Philippine Fashion Week

We recently got into SMX Convention Center for the 2011 Philippine Fashion Week. Hundreds of fashionistas flocked around to gather for the fashion industry's finest moment. We were able to see the latest trends in fashion and really got inspired with the models that we saw.
The most crowded show of all was with the Penshoppe fashion show. The famous brand was able to showcase poprock, edgy, and youthful clothings. We were able to see celebrity models like Victor Basa, Solenn Heusaff, Pokwang and Anne Curtis.

I am hoping though that one day, I can already go and have a VIP seat along with bloggers in the fashion industry. :)

Eat & Go - Seafood Paella

We went to SM Megamall later today for restocking and wanted to eat at something new. So while walking around SM's atrium, we decided to try out Eat & Go restaurant. Strangely, both of us wanted to try their Seafood Paella despite the fact that they have other best seller around. First, they served a Chef's Salad which is very good. So good, it didn't last 3 minutes. After that, we quite had a long wait and when we were served our seafood paella, due to the fact that it looks very scrumptous, we never had time to take a photo of the food so I just grabbed a similar photo from another blog that had the same paella.

The servant said that the food is good for 2 servings already but when we get to see it, we thought its really just good for one. But while eating the paella, it was actually heavy in the stomach that you tend to get full easily after a couple of intake but it really takes so good, I was able to finish eating at probably within 10 minutes.

Overall, I was satisfied with the presentation, the servant's performance and specially the taste of the food. I know I will come back again to try their other best sellers soon.

Wensha Spa Review

We recently got addicted with body massage and one of the places we usually go for it is at Wensha Spa in Timog Ave, QC. For just P680, you can already treat yourself to a whole body massage plus a lot more.
Before having our body massage, the SPA also offers a buffet style food with shabu-shabu and dessert. I definitely loved the shabu-shabu and you can get to eat all you can as long as there is no leftover food left.

After that, we went to the public bath to wash off in preparation for our body massage. The place though is quite intimidating since you see a lot of "merchandise" around. I totally love the wet sauna although I'm having a hard time breathing inside but everyone else's seems they're not having a hard time. It is funny though since we know that gays roam the area as well and there is one time when this guy is stroking his tool right in front of me. I was quite shocked at first but my partner already pre-empted me that it really happens there. But I really had to stay long at that wet sauna since I love how it affects my skin specially my face afterwards. I feel I am so detoxified after the session.

Afterwards, we went up to get our body massage. The masseurs there are really good. It is again another intimidating moment since you need to be massaged barenaked and there are also other men inside the room specially during peak hours. The masseurs really take care of your clothes first and lays you down for the massage. Although my partner gets suspicious sometimes since masseurs there really gets touchy and hits you and sometimes holds your tool. But I guess they do that so you can give them a better tip (hehe!).

Afterwards, we get another round of shabu-shabu and off to bath again to wash off the oil used in our bodies. Overall, it really feels good after having a very tiresome week at work to treat yourself to a massage feels very rewarding at all.

Thor Movie Review

We recently watched the movie, Thor at SM IMAX Theatre in North Edsa. It was my first time watching in North Edsa as I was used to watch an imax movie at SM MoA. Anyway, the theatre is very good. The staff are accomodating and the place is comfy specially for partners since you can lift the armbar to make it like a lovechair.

Anyway, onto the movie, I loved how the movie used the original costume of Thor since I really got depressed with the X-Men movie not using their original costumes. At least, this movie looks like they really had a huge budget and it really reflected from how good the movie was. From actors to set to the movie script, the cast really did a great job.

Although there were some things that I had hoped they did like making him fight using the Mjollnir, I hoped they have added lightning effects on it to make a better impact that he is the God of Lightning. Lead star, Chris Hemsworth, was really effective in portraying the Asgardian Hero.

I would recommend watching this movie in IMAX due to the depth of 3d of this film. Also, do not get up yet while the credits are rolling since there is a spoiler for the upcoming Avenger film wherein Nick Fury shows the Cosmic Cube to Dr. Selvig which apparently Loki is in hiding and getting curious of the cube's power. So definitely, Loki will be making a comeback on the Avenger film.

I hope you also noticed Hawkeye making a cameo role on the film when Thor was trying to get back the Mjollnir from S.H.I.E.L.D.

God of War 3

And for our first review, I was already able to purchase a PS3 "finally" and of course the first game that you wanna play with it is the game that made the console famous for - God of War 3.

The game overall is very epic. SCEA did a really great job specially for the last game in the trilogy but creators said that the trilogy has ended but Kratos' story still continues, so hopefully they would be able to create another game soon.

There are some levels though that is very hard to pass through like the Chains of Olympus wherein you have to cross your way from Mount Olympus to the realm of Hades while passing through holes, fireballs and barricades. The button smashing feature is still there although it has improved in a way that you will be able to easily recognize what button you need to press but there are times when you get tired for smashing a button very fast or else you fail.

Overall, eventhough the game is quite short (which is good for me since I don't want to have a long gameplay only to get bored in the middle) made a fantastic ending for the trilogy. The game did not mentioned though what already happened with the titans after the great battle with Zeus inside Gaia's chest. I wonder if another titan again helped Kratos to survive.
